2009 Post-Doctoral Fellows Conference
Enlarge The Archaeology of the Recent African American Past The 2009 Post-doctoral Fellows Conference: The Archaeology of the Recent African American Past will be held February 27-28. This year’s conference focuses on the archaeology of African American lives in the recent past, or how African peoples experienced freedom in the United States. Participants will contribute to a dialogue about the ways archaeology can address the painful histories of Reconstruction and Jim Crow and the more hopeful histories of the Civil Rights movement and the building of Black neighborhoods and universities. Theresa Singleton, a historical archaeologist from Syracuse University, New York, is the plenary speaker. The conference will be held in Classroom A in the Darla Moore School of Business on the University of South Carolina campus. Accommodations are available at the Inn at USC for $129.00 per night. See Conference Links below for additional information. See the Call for Papers for additional information. |
