The Poetry Initiative partners with community organizations to bring poetry to the larger South Carolina Public. These partnerships help pool resources to bring poets closer to the community. Many institutions and organizations have existing programs that celebrate the poetic arts in the state. The Poetry Initiative brings to these partnerships extensive experience in programming, connections with poets and a galvanizing promotional force that has allowed us to ally with museums, libraries, business and community arts organizations to connect poets and the general public in creative and mutually beneficial ways. All our partnerships are designed around the needs and mandates of our partners.

Partnerships with Libraries
The Poetry Initiative recognizes that one of the most important venues for the promotion of poetry is the library. The library is the site for learning and for the pleasures of reading. The library has become a central place for the community to meet to talk about books. But the library is also that quiet place where people can come to discover in silence and isolation, the richness of the poetic arts. Librarians are lovers of books and librarians love to turn people on to reading.
